A Brief History

Columbia University is a private research university established in 1754, which is known to be the 5th oldest institution of higher education in the United States. Also, it is among the nine colleges that were founded before independence. Computer Science

Computer Science majors at Columbia study an integrated curriculum, partially in areas with an immediate relationship to the computer, such as programming languages, operating systems, and computer architecture, and partially in theoretical computer science and mathematics.


The undergraduate program at Columbia focuses on the basic sciences which form
a foundation for the study of medicine. In addition to undergraduate coursework, premedical students
are expected to test their motivation for a career in medicine by exposing themselves to different
venues where clinical medicine is practiced.
