British System

  • A-Level: Grades AAA
  • Subjects: No specific subjects. At least two A level subjects should be taken from UCL's list of preferred A level subjects.
  • GCSEs: English Language at grade B or 6 and Mathematics at grade C or 5.

 

Contextual offer

  • Grades: ABB 
  • Subjects: No specific subjects. At least two A level subjects should be taken from UCL's list of preferred A level subjects.
  • GCSEs: English Language at grade B or 6 and Mathematics at grade C or 5.

 

IB Diploma

  • Point: 38
  • Subjects: A total of 18 points in three higher level subjects, with no score below 5.

 

Contextual offer

  • Point: 34 
  • Subjects: A total of 16 points in three higher level subjects including Latin at grade 6, with no score lower than 5.

Advanced Placement (AP)

  • Award of 5, 5, 5, 4, 4 in five AP subjects, taken in the final three years of high school.
  • The successful completion of one year of study at a recognised US university, Community or Junior College, with an overall CGPA of 3.3/4.0 (equivalent to a 2.1) may also be considered.
  • Please see 'A Levels' for subject requirements. Where A* is required at A Level, 5 will be required in the relevant full-year AP subject; for A, 5 will be required; and for B, 4 will be required. 
  • Where Mathematics or Physics is required, applicants will be asked to present specific AP subjects. 

English Language Requirement

If your first language is not English you must be able to provide recent evidence that your spoken and written command of the English language is adequate for the programmes for which you have applied.

  • GCSE/IGCSE English language: Pass at 6 (or grade B)
  • IELTS Academic: Overall grade of 7.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the subtests
  • TOEFL: Score of 109 overall 24/30 in reading and writing and 20/30 in speaking and listening
  • IB English Language B: grade 5 at either higher level or grade 6 at standard level
    PTE Academic: 75 overall, with a minimum of 62 in each component.

We are looking for excellent writing and a statement that is personal and unique to you. We want to understand:

  • Your passion for your subject
  • How you are a good fit for your chosen programme
  • What you will bring to the university community



Academic Reference

If possible, they should be someone who knows you academically and can talk about your work ethic, interaction with other students and your suitability for higher education or a future career.
