UCAS Application Form

A-Level

  • A* in Mathematics
  • A in Physics
  • A in third subject

Acceptable third subjects: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computing, Design and Technology, Economics, Electronics,  English Literature, Further Mathematics, Geography, History,  Languages (Classical and Modern), Music Technology, or Music. 

Preferably third subject: Further Mathematics as the subject provides a firm background to first year students. 

  •  Offer statistics: A* A A to A* A* A

 

International Baccalaureate (IB)

  • 6 in Higher level Mathematics
  • 6 in Higher level Physics
  • 38 overall which can include bonus points
  • Offer statistics: 6, 6, 38 - 7, 7, 40 

 

 

Advanced Placement (AP)

Requiring a minimum of three subjects passed at grade 5, prefer a total of 4 subjects passed at grade 5

 

  • 5 in Calculus BC
  • 5 in Physics C: E&M 
  • 5 in Physics C: Mechanics
  • 5 in one other subject.   
  • Calculus BC, Physics 1, or Physics 2 are not accepted for other subject

English Language Requirements

IELTS

  •  Standard:  6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 in all elements)
  •  Higher: 7.0 overall (minimum 6.5 in all elements)

 IELTS score must be valid for 2 years

 

TOEFL iBT

  • Standard:  92 overall (minimum 20 in all elements)
  • Higher:  100 overall (minimum 22 in all elements)
  • TOEFL iBT score must be valid for 2 years

AS Level/A-Level

  • Grade C in English Language

 

 IGCSE

  • Grade B in English as a First Language

 

 International Baccalaureate (IB)

  •  English A: Language & Literature  Grade 4
  • English A: Literature Grade 4
  • English B  Grade 6 (Standard Level) or Grade 5 (Higher Level)

 

Advanced Placement (AP)

 Grade 4 in English

Personal statement

  • A paper indicating why are you interested in the course
  •  May include details of any skills, interests and attributes that you think you have that demonstrate for aptitude and motivation in the course

Academic Reference

  • Statement from the school’s headmaster of the student’s nature of study/ predicted Grades

Selection criteria

The Faculty of Engineering will make the final decision on the admission using the total score of 100% with the consideration of the following categories:

  • Portfolio and Statement of Purpose: 40%
  • Academic record: 20%
  • English proficiency test score: 20%
  • Interview score: 20%
